 The Light Wins National Drywall Award The Light Shopping Centre in Leeds has recently won a National award ‘The Roger Measom Salver for Dry-lining’, awarded by the FPDC, the Federation of Plastering & Dry-lining Contractors. The £250k contract carried out by Ryedale Interiors, for B & K (Leeds) Ltd, was to design, supply and install the feature wall linings to this prestigious new shopping mall in the centre of Leeds. The linings incorporated panels of perforated Gyptone plasterboard screwed to metal stud framework packed off the existing walls. The bridge soffits were clad with curved Gyptone linings and all the completed works were painted to match the stone cladding on the exterior of the shopping mall. The works were carried out over a short site programme with access made difficult by the height of the malls and the extent of works by other trades. In all, 44 projects were considered throughout the United Kingdom and the Judges considered this to be the best example of dry-lining craftsmanship carried out.
